Mr. Dortch earned his undergraduate degree at Wake Forest
University, where he received a BS in Business and earned a BA
in History. Bob graduated cum laude from Campbell University
School of Law in 1983, where he was the editor-in-chief of the
Law Review. Upon graduation, he was a law clerk for United
States Magistrate Judge, Russell Eliason.
Bob's practice focuses on dispute resolution (arbitration,
mediation and litigation) involving all areas of business,
commercial, construction and products liability law. Throughout
his career, Bob has had the privilege of representing a wide
variety of clients ranging from individuals and small
businesses, to large international companies. He has and
continues to represent his clients in state and federal courts,
including participating as co-counsel in the successful defense
of a nationwide class action involving automotive product defect
claims.
Bob was a long standing member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Grievance Committee, which he chaired for four years. He subsequently was the chair of the Mecklenburg County Bar's Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. Bob is now a co-chair of the MCB's Strategic Planning Committee, is presently Vice-President of the Mecklenburg County Bar and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mecklenburg County Bar's board of directors. He was previously a member of the Litigation Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Bob has served on several boards of directors for local non-profit organizations, including Davidson-Cornelius Day Care Center and North Mecklenburg Youth Soccer Association and has been a frequent lecturer on construction law topics. Bob and his wife, Barbara, have two adult children and reside in Davidson, NC.
